Virgil was influenced by European art. The Aeneid showed Roman culture and artists captured this in landscapes and on frescoes. Also during Augustine rule there were sculptures and statues of him because he was the state priest.

After exploring the website I can tell that Virgil was influenced by art at that time. In Book 1 of the Aenied, Aeneas and Achates go to Carthage under a cloud. While they are around the Temple of Juno they see various murals of the Trojan War. At that time period many mural were seen around Rome and Virgil was influenced by them.

Virgil was influenced by the art of the time. A example of how they were influenced was when Aeneas wasn at the temple in book one, he saw the wall covered with pictures of the Trojan War. This connected with the Aenied because Virgil was influenced by the artwork.

I agree that Virgil was influenced by these works and created parts of the Aenied based on it. Good job on your post.

There were many murals, sculptures, and other forms of art that influenced the Aeneid and Virgil. One example is that some pottery depicted wonderful life of dancers, music players, and people just having a great time, much like what we have seen in the Aeneid at Carthage. People were working, but they also knew how to have fun and eat well. One such pottery is the Arretine cup signed by Tigranes. Another example of how the Aeneid was influenced by Roman art is that many murals and paintings in Rome showed scenes from stories and myths that have been told, like in the Aeneid, the mural in Juno's Temple that depicted the Trojan War. The Landscape with Polyphemus and Galatea could have inspired Virgil, since it too explained a myth.

I think Virgil was influenced by European art. You can see he is influenced by art when Aeneas and Achates go to Carthage and they enter the temple of juno and there is murals everywhere. I think a lot of murals were painted around that time and Virgil was influenced by them.

The many statues and murals depicted events in which Virgil’s Aeneid was influenced by. The Aeneid was written to show how great Rome was. For example, in Juno’s Temple, there was a mural depicting a scene of the Trojan War. The art gave Virgil ideas of to write about. The statues of Augustus, who was chief state priest, promoted his family. The arts definitely influenced the writing of the Aeneid.

Virgil was influenced by a lot of art especially murals. I know this because as Aeneas and Achates were walking in the hallway they noticed murals on the wall of the trojan war which brought back sad memories.
